Choose Your Own Adventure – July edition
Every now and again I get frustrated with the circumstances of my life. I saw a twitter handle mocking people like me the other day. It was called “the first world life” and sarcastically mocked the plight of the American middle class. Things like “Sometimes my shower curtain touches me” and “I’m too lazy to take my contacts out.”
Sadly I often find myself griping about the trivial, only to have to take a step back to put things into perspective.
I can either:
Freak out about the fact that Jay caught yet another mouse in our farm-house.
OR:
Be grateful to have a home – one that we can realistically own free and clear if we stick to our aggressive pay off plan.
I can either:
Be annoyed that my husband doesn’t have time to deal with routine car maintenance.
OR
Be thankful for a hard-working husband who’s managed to stay busy in a down real estate market.
I can choose to:
Get frustrated with my body for hanging on to ten a few extra pounds.
OR
Appreciate that in every instance (excluding illness) my body has reached every goal I’ve set for myself.
I can decide to:
Be disappointed that we spent the weekend in Yuppiville when my sister & family came down to celebrate the 4th with my family.
OR
I can be thankful my family lives within a 2 hour drive and I see them more than just a handful of times a year.
So you see, the choice is fairly clear. I’ve got a pretty sweet life.
What’s something you need to adjust your attitude about this week?
